Decoration of Tote Bags March 10th 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM

$70.00

Creating felt help us recall our ancestors. It takes us back to the origin of
the human creation.
Before learning how to knit or weave, we collected the wool from our
sheep to cover our bodies and houses. Wool, heat, humidity and friction: A
casual cohesion that gave birth to the first textile creation.

DECORATION OF TOTE BAGS

USING FELTING NEEDLES –

Felting needles (needle punch) were introduced in the 1950 ́s for industrial purposes. However, in the 1980 ́s David and Eleanor Stanwood bought a sampling- punching machine and found out they could take a single needle. Then a family friend was taught the technique and she created the first L-shape needle felting known today.

In this 4-hour workshop we will learn how to apply felting needles to paint fabric with wool and add volume and texture to make then spark out. In this case we will decorate a natural color canvas tote bag with threads and wool brought from Colombia. Be creative as you want and remember to always have fun!
